DMV Fail

So here goes:

I get up this morning to take my road test. After taking a 45min train ride and waiting on line at the road test site for and hour we finally get a tester. I get out of the car to talk to this perfectly nice lady who of course instructs us that I can't take the road test without the original of the drivers ed certificate. Where's the original? The lady at the DMV insisted on taking it and giving me a photocopy when I got my permit. Aggravating. The lady at the road test says that if I come back before 11:00 (it was now 9:45) I can still take it today. She says I should go back to the DMV office in the city and then come back (as if there was actually time for that).

So off I go to find an original. We figure that the DMV would be a waste of time so we just try to get a duplicate. The driving school doesn't give duplicates - that's done through the high school. The guy in the business office at the school is very religious and is gone for the second day of rosh hashana (with his phone off). The nice lady in the business office tried to find the form to give me - but they appeared to have run out because of so many people asking for duplicates (and the guy who actually does this isn't there).

So we call the DMV - on hold for an hour (being asked if we knew about the next best deal! 8 times) - told to call the oversight office for the test sight. Call the office - who does have the authority to override the schedule and get me an appointment so I can take the test - but wouldn't be able to issue a license w/o an original form.

So not only did I not take it this morning now, but I wont be able to take the test until I come back for winter break. Assuming I actually get a duplicate. On the up-side I suppose is that to schedule the test I can just call the oversight office and bypass the idiotic internet system.
